About Us
The Liberia Coalition of Mental Health Services (LCMHS) was established on October 16, 2016, as a continuation of the mental health activities initiated by the Mental Health Leadership and Advocacy Program (mhLAP). Founded in 2010 by Professor Oye Gureje in Ibadan, Nigeria, mhLAP laid the groundwork for our organization’s formation.

LCMHS is driven by a vision to ensure that all mentally ill individuals are treated, empowered, and able to achieve long-term recovery. We work in collaboration with the government, communities, and other stakeholders to advocate for legislation, quality mental health services, and the reduction of stigma associated with neuropsychiatric disorders.
